Job Title: Internal Audit Officer

About the Role

The Internal Audit Officer will play a key role in supporting the global audit function at HD’s headquarters in Geneva and its regional offices worldwide. This position focuses on ensuring strong internal controls, risk management, and compliance across HD’s operations.

Working directly under the Director of Finance, the Internal Audit Officer will collaborate closely with the Finance, Accounting, and Human Resources teams to maintain transparency, efficiency, and accountability in all financial and operational processes.

This role may also require occasional travel to conduct field audit missions in support of HD’s global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Audit Coordination and Execution (50%)

• Coordinate the preparation and scheduling of audits with HD offices across different regions.

• Plan and conduct process and transactional testing to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.

• Compile and maintain accurate audit documentation, including reports and administrative records.

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial and operational documents submitted for review.

• Consolidate audit recommendations and monitor their implementation status.

• Promote continuous improvement in audit processes and internal controls.

2. Field and Compliance Audits

• Conduct field missions to review financial and operational compliance as directed by the Head of Internal Audit or the Director of Finance.

• Plan and execute compliance assessments in line with organizational and donor requirements.

• Assist in preparing materials and documentation for both internal and external audits.

Educational and Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Auditing.

• Professional certification or progress towards ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is highly desirable.

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant audit experience, preferably in not-for-profit, donor-funded, or project-based organizations.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Jet Reports and Business Central is an added advantage.

• Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Knowledge of French or Arabic is an additional asset.
