Job Title: Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking Division

Locations: Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Anambra
Employment Type: Full Time

Role Overview

The Relationship Manager will play a key role in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships within the Commercial Banking segment. The ideal candidate will deliver value-driven financial solutions while ensuring cost efficiency and proper risk management. You will be expected to acquire new clients, retain existing ones, and apply financial expertise to meet their business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Create strategic work plans for prospecting and engaging potential customers

• Build and sustain positive relationships with existing and prospective clients

• Organize and document marketing and client-visit activities

• Structure financial and credit solutions tailored to customers’ needs and prepare or review credit proposals with the Group Head

• Monitor compliance with credit terms and conditions

• Oversee loan recovery processes and remediation efforts

• Present and defend credit proposals before the Credit Committee

• Provide guidance and on-the-job coaching to Account Officers

• Negotiate FX and credit pricing within approved bank limits to enhance profitability

• Track the unit’s performance against monthly, quarterly, and annual goals

• Prepare the unit’s annual budget for consolidation by the Group Head

• Develop and deliver the Unit’s Monthly Profitability Report (MPR)

• Evaluate the performance of supervised Account Officers

• Meet all financial targets and required performance ratios

• Prepare periodic updates and reports for the Regional Head

• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Zonal Head

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

• A Master’s degree or professional certification is an added advantage

• Minimum of 5 years’ banking experience, including 2–3 years in a team leadership capacity

• Strong analytical abilities and sound decision-making skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Client-focused mindset and drive for results

Preferred Skills

• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal

• Professional attitude and conduct

• Familiarity with treasury products is an advantage

• Solid credit analysis skills (financial accounting, commercial lending, loan structuring, industry knowledge)

• Understanding of credit processes and the ability to work with business teams, risk officers, product units, and clients on credit matters

• Strong planning, negotiation, and organizational abilities, with capacity to manage multiple client needs
