Job Title: Research Assistant – Facility Maintenance

Position Summary
IITA is seeking a competent and proactive Research Assistant – Facility Maintenance to provide technical support in maintaining the institute’s research facilities and ensuring all operational systems function effectively.
The successful candidate will assist in performing preventive maintenance, supervising minor repairs, and supporting infrastructure improvement activities within the research environment.
This position is ideal for individuals with hands-on technical skills and a strong interest in supporting research infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining and repairing research facilities, laboratories, and related equipment.

Support routine inspection and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Collaborate with maintenance technicians and engineers to identify and resolve technical issues.

Ensure that all research facilities meet safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.

Assist in planning and implementing preventive maintenance schedules.

Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance logs, and service requests.

Support the setup of equipment for research experiments when required.

Ensure compliance with institutional safety policies and operational guidelines.
Requirements

Minimum of National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Maintenance, or a related technical field.

At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in facility or equipment maintenance.

Good knowledge of maintenance tools, electrical systems, and safety procedures.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team and follow technical instructions.

Basic computer literacy and record-keeping ability.
