Job Title: Research Support Officer – Research Administration

Position Summary

The Research Support Officer – Research Administration will provide essential administrative and technical support to IITA’s research programs. The successful candidate will work closely with research scientists and project teams to ensure effective coordination, documentation, and reporting of ongoing research activities.

This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to agricultural research and development in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Support research teams in preparing, compiling, and submitting project documents and reports.

• Assist in tracking project progress and ensuring adherence to institutional and donor requirements.

• Maintain accurate records of research data, correspondence, and project deliverables.

• Coordinate meetings, workshops, and other research-related activities.

• Provide administrative support for budgeting, procurement, and logistics for research projects.

• Liaise with partners, donors, and collaborating institutions on research documentation and compliance.

• Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals, publications, and internal communications.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Research Administration, Business Administration, or any related field.

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in research administration or project coordination.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital collaboration tools.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
